The Center has a small number of openings for staff attorney positions, starting September 2009.
The September 2009 openings are for two-year positions, with the possibility of a third year.
Staff attorneys are given primary responsibility for briefing and argument of cases before the First Department of the Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals. There are also opportunities for seeking collateral relief in trial court via 440 motions and in federal court on writs of habeas corpus.
Applicants must have excellent analytical, writing, research, and oral advocacy skills, as well as a commitment to public interest law and to serving the indigent.
The starting salary is commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits are provided.
