special projects The Center does not view its role in indigent defense as static. Although many criminal defendants can be helped via the traditional appellate process, for others their available appeals do not provide the only or best way to assist them. For this reason, the Center has developed two projects - the "Justice First" collateral relief project, and its Parole Advocacy/Prisoner Reentry Project - to provide assistance to our clients beyond that which the criminal appeal provides. The Center also seeks to engage the legal community with its Volunteer/Pro Bono program with private firms and its Criminal Appeals Clinic. |
